the past few days have been so absolutely gorgeous here... it's spring! and fancy that, i have lots of fun spring colors to share today for Knit + Crochet Design Week Day 3!
this is just about the last of my stash of Lion Brand Baby Wool and i thought the colors would be perfect for my little puffy fish. i really like how the Baby Wool worked for my Lulu Monster and i have a feeling i'll be stocking up again the next time i'm at LBYS for some more critters.
the first fish i'm working on is going to be Papaya, with Orchid lips and i think i'm going to use one of the greens or the little bit of Almond i have left for the puffer spikes.
Baby Wool is 100% wool and is listed as a Medium (4) worsted weight yarn. in my opinion it's actually a little thinner/lighter than a true worsted weight and for most of the amigurumi projects i use it for i have to go down a hook size or two to make sure it's a tight stitch that no stuffing can push thorugh. for this project i'm using a F hook. Baby Wool is machine washable too so it's great to use for baby toys that may need a bath once in awhile!
i'm planning on making a second fish this week as well and right now i'm thinking about making him in blue (or green.... or maybe striped!) with big pink lips. we'll see what's left over for the spikes, if #2 is done in stripes the spikes might end up looking too busy. but those decisions are for tomorrow when i've finished up #1.
i can't wait to see all of the beautiful yarns all of the Knit + Crochet Design Week designers are going to be using for their projects this week! be sure to check them out too...
have a great day! happy stitching!
update: i just noticed as i was posting this that all of the Lion Brand Baby Wool is on sale for 30% off on their website... check it out!
